Se si assume la dimensione trinitaria di Dio, diviene naturale articolare il rapporto tra il Creatore e il mondo come ritmo triadico. Tra i Padri della Chiesa, Ireneo di Lione è ricorso esplicitamente al termine greco rhythmos per declinare il rapporto tra la Trinità e il mondo. Il termine appare anche nella teologia cappadoce dove, però, sarà limitato al riflesso creato della perfezione increata, senza riferirsi esplicitamente al rapporto tra Dio e il creato. Ciò può essere collegato alla riformulazione di tale rapporto in termini relazionali, per evitare approssimazioni indebite alla dialettica plotiniana, che aveva influito indirettamente sulle posizioni neoariane di Eunomio. Il valore metafisico del termine rhythmos stesso, modificato nel passaggio dal dualismo al monismo, appare sullo sfondo della rielaborazione teologica tesa a ristrutturare l’ontologia a partire dall’irriducibilità del reale alla dimensione concettuale.

If we hypothesize the Trinitarian dimension of God, it is only natural to express the relationship between the Creator and the world in terms of a triadic rhythm. Among the Fathers of the Church, Irenaeus of Lyon had explicitly resorted to the Greek word rhythmos to describe this relationship of the Trinity and the world. The term also appears in the doctrine of the Cappadocian Fathers, where it is however limited to the created reflection of the uncreated perfection. This can be connected to the reformulation of this relationship in relational terms in order to avoid due approximations to Plotinus’s dialectics, which had indirectly influenced the neoarian positions of Eunomius. The metaphysical value of the term rhythmos itself, modified in the passage from dualism to monism, appears on the background of the theological re-elaboration aimed at restructuring the ontology moving from of the irreducibility of reality to the dimension of concepts.
