Il saggio muove dalla considerazione della Scienza della Logica di Hegel, e in particolare dalla sua ultima sezione, dedicata all’idea, per gettare di lì, attraverso un parallelismo fra hegelismo e realtà virtuale, uno sguardo sul mondo contemporaneo. La tesi di fondo è che la Grundoperation che il filosofo realizzava in quell’opera, grazie alle risorse del metodo dialettico, si è oggi estesa, in forma ironica o parodistica, all’intera Terra. In luogo di das Logische, sono i sistemi operativi della tecnologia cibernetica ad adattare illimitatamente a sé cose, uomini e ambiente. Come però l’idea hegeliana doveva lottare contro i suoi “resti”, così nell’universo cibernetico rimane indisponibile una testarda resistenza: qualcosa di ostinatamente indissolubile, che l’Autore chiama “lo spettro della terra”.

The essay moves from the consideration of Hegel’s Science of Logic, and in particular from its last section, dedicated to the idea and, from here, throws a glance at the contemporary world through an analogy between Hegelianism and virtual reality. The basic thesis is that the Grundoperation achieved by the philosopher in that work, thanks to the resources of the dialectic method, has today extended, in an ironical and parodistic form, to the entire Earth. In place of das Logische, it is the operating systems of cybernetic technology that adapt to themselves things, men and the environment. However, as the Hegelian idea had to fight against its “remains”, so a stubborn resistance stays unavailable in the cybernetic universe: something that is obstinately permanent and that the Author calls “the spectre of Earth”.
