Scopo del saggio è illuminare il passaggio dall'avanguardia teatrale europea a quella americana attraverso l’opera di Robert Wilson. Dopo una breve ricostruzione dei suoi primi lavori teatrali, viene affrontata tematicamente la messa in scena wilsoniana di Krapp’s last tape di Beckett. L’opera dello scrittore irlandese, che rappresenta senz’altro un modello e una continua fonte d’ispirazione per quella di Wilson, è interpretata come una lente per meglio focalizzare la ricerca e gli elementi strutturali del «teatro immagine» caratteristici del regista statunitense (azioni stilizzate, slow motion, light design). Tra le figure stilistiche del teatro wilsoniano viene in particolare analizzata quella della ripetizione, categoria anch'essa beckettiana, nonché chiave fondamentale per comprendere l'arte e l'estetica nell'epoca della sua riproducibilità tecnica.

The aim of this essay is to throw light upon the transition from the avant-garde of European drama to the American one through the work of Robert Wilson. After a brief reconstruction of his first plays, the author thematically faces the Wilsonian mise-en-scene of Beckett’s Krapp’s last tape. The Irish writer’s works, that certainly represent a model and a continuous source of inspiration to Wilson, are interpreted as a lens so as to better focalize the research and the structural elements of the «image drama» typical of the American director (stylized actions, slow motion, light design). Among the stylized figures of Wison’s plays, repetition is analyzed in particular, it being both a Beckettian category and a fundamental key to understand Art and Aesthetics in the era of its technical reproducibility.
