Il saggio ricostruisce la storia e la complessa rete semantica del concetto di “legge”/“leggi” in ambito ebraico, attraverso una carrellata diacronica e alcuni approfondimenti sui codici e gli autori fondamentali per questa tradizione giuridico-religiosa. Sono sviluppati i concetti di Torà/torot, choqu-mishpat, halakhà,nelle loro dimensioni sia teologiche sia mitico-antropologiche. Sono presentate alcune diatribe rabbiniche storiche sul tema della legge: tra Hillel e Shammai, tra Mosè Maimonide e i suoi numerosi critici, tra ortodossi come Samson Raphael Hirsch e riformati come Leo Baeck. Si presenta la novità del diritto israeliano in rapporto alla tradizione religione con le tensioni createsi nel corso del XX secolo, con particolare riferimento a Joseph B. Soloveitchik e Yeshayahu Leibowitz.

Abstract [Eng]
The essay reconstructs the history and the complex semantic network of the concept of “Law”/“Laws” within the Jewish tradition, through a diachronic survey and some in-depth analyses of the codes and the authors which are fundamental for such a juridical-religious tradition. The concepts of Torah/torot, chok u-mishpat, and halakhah, in their theological and anthropological dimensions are developed. Some important historical rabbinical debates on the topic of Law are also presented, such as those between Hillel and Shammai, Moses Maimonides and his numerous critics, the orthodox (i.e. Raphael Hirsch) and the reformed (i.e. Leo Baeck). The innovation of the Israeli legal system in relation to the religious tradition, with the tension created in the course of the 20th century, is presented, with particular regard to Joseph B. Soloveitchik and Yeshayahu Leibowitz.
