L’ipotesi che muove questo saggio è che nel confronto che Jean-Luc Nancy ha ingaggiato con Maurice Blanchot sia in gioco qualcosa la cui portata va ben oltre un interesse meramente filologico e che investe direttamente la nostra attualità. Si tratta della relazione tra norma e desiderio, libido ed esigenza della vita in comune. Il saggio mostra come Nancy, criticando il pensiero di Blanchot, giunga a una distinzione tra teologia, etica e politica che nella prima fase del suo pensiero non era sufficientemente chiara. In questo modo egli riesce a mettere a fuoco un’articolazione produttiva tra passione e mondo comune che in Blanchot resta impossibile.

The hypothesis behind this essay is that in the comparison that Jean-Luc Nancy has engaged with Maurice Blanchot something is at stake, the scope of which goes far beyond a purely philological interest, to directly invest our topicality. It’s about the relationship between the rules and desire, libido and the demands of life together. The essay shows how Nancy, criticizing Blanchot’s thought, arrives at a distinction among theology, ethics and politics that, in the early stages of his thinking, was not clear enough. In this way, he succeeds in focusing upon a productive articulation between passion and the common world that remains impossible in Blanchot.
